In honor of my birthday, I am super excited to be offering you guys 40 smackeroos to any of the CSN stores. My very first giveaway, too, so lordy i hope i do this right! I have made the comments open so the number of your comments is right...so fingers crossed for no mean ones!

ReplyDeleteBest birthday gift ever, huh? Ummm, probably one I gave to myself when I flew to London for my 20th! The circumstances of why, and some of what happened while I was there were kinda bleh - but I love London so much and would celebrate my birthday there every year if I could! :)

ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday present was a trip to see the Phantom of the Opera at the same theater my parents had gone to when they were dating with boyfreind/ now hubby. It was romantic and magical and made me feel timeless.
I wish you the best weekend, Hubby's weekend is this Sunday he's got 10-10-10 this year so i'm trying to make a big deal. Espeacially because last year he forgot how old he was. LOL!
Happy Birthday! My best birthday present would have to be the Mini Cooper I bought myself last year. Only trouble was I bought it in April around my husband's birthday, not mine (which is in October). I'm still counting it here because we now have a running joke that my husband is owed something big for *my* birthday to make up for it.

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I turned 31 this year as well, and I've resisted being "into" my 30s the whole time. Sigh. It's bound to happen, I suppose. I'm a follower of your lovely blog! Hmm....my best birthday memory is probably my 18th birthday. It was my first birthday living on my own, in college with my roommates. Such a sense of freedom and independence! I loved it.

I was finally able to wear make-up and go on a date that night with the cutest guy in school...but my best gift would be a silver pendant necklace with 3 birthstones, one for each of my children's birth months. (-; Hubby did good that year.

My Dad (who has since passed away) gave me a copy of my favorite childhood book, autographed with a personal message for me by the Author, on my 21st birthday. He was a real estate agent and was selling her house at the time - he told her what a fan I was of her young novels and she went out of her way to get me several of them. It was so lovely! I'll never forget it. :)

My favorite present came last year when Cute Husband and the cuties bought me a silver charm bracelet and filled it with charms of our life from a heart with our wedding date engraved, all the way up to that moment. It's the best thing and I wear it all the time and reminds me of the people in my life I love the most and makes the BEST jingle jangle noise as I walk, LOL!

ReplyDeleteOK, so this isn't really a present but it's what stands out in my memory right now. The day I turned 30 some of my girlfriends came over in the middle of the night and decorated outside my house with lots of "30's" taped up to my house and signs, and a whole bunch of stuff! It was pretty funny. And my birthday is in February so they were out there in about 20 degree weather and snow!
As someone who turned 41 this year, I can tell you that you're nowhere near 40. Nearly a decade to go! Ages. I can't enter your giveaway as I'm in Oz, but happy birthday!

ReplyDeleteI don't have a favorite gift in mind, but when I think of my birthdays, I always remember the care my Mom (sadly gone 4 yrs) took in making each one special. She always made my favorite cake and bought the funniest cards, and gave the most thoughtful gifts.

Oh, 31 was so yesterday...come to the 40 side...wait, what am I saying? I turn 40 in a mere 5 months and am already kicking and screaming. Okay, best present? The year I turned 30, my oldest son was born 2 weeks earlier. It was the year that I finally felt it all come together...career, hubby, baby, house...it was a good year :)

ReplyDeleteThe best present I ever received was one I didn't even want. My ex bought me an ipod for Christmas and I was pretty excited about it. But then for my birthday he bought me a car adapter for it. I was all "What the shizz? I have a 6 disc CD changer in my car! This is a total waste of money and you suck". Um. Not so much. That was like 6 years ago and I STILL use that adapter everyday. In fact, I'm not sure I could fathom an entire trip somewhere without my music.
Happy Birthday and 31 is a great age to be. I've gotten lots of great gifts but one year for my birthday...my fiance was up early and making lots of noise in the apartment. I'm not a morning person...and certainly did not expect to have to get up early on my birthday. I then could hear splashing noises coming from the living room. I said and in not a very nice manner..."What is going on? What is all that noise and it sounds like water". He yelled out...."We have a leak!" I came bounding out of bed and ran into the living room to find a large fountain in the middle of my living room running and splashing water everywhere. He had balloons tied to it. I started crying. We lived in this small apartment but he'd noticed how much I loved fountains and had gone and bought me the best one he could find. Luckily this apartment was on the ground floor and it had a screened in porch...we put the fountain out there and enjoyed it when we'd sit out there in the evenings.
ReplyDeleteI still have the fountain....too bad I don't still have him. He left me a couple of years later. The fountain is actually in my Mom's garage. I couldn't bare to look at it for ages. But this makes me think that maybe I should get it out and put it in my yard...maybe I could look at it now. Hmmmm...maybe.

The best birthday gift I've gotten is tickets to Florida to meet my little sister. I haven't used them yet, but we (my birth mom and I) are planning on surprising her at a dance competition she is in at the end of December. Along with that we are going to go to Disney and the Harry Potter theme park while I'm there!

We were together the whole day (a great gift in itself) but he arranged for my cousin to pick up and bring the flowers. I didn't think I'd get any because he'd never gone to get any. It was a great surprise. He also took me on a trip to Yellowstone. It was so much fun!

I thanked her but was a little puzzled about my present-less status. She prompted me to read the back of the card...where I was promised my 1st trip to NYC the following weekend. My favorite bday present was a Cabbage patch doll my parents had made for my 3rd or 4th bday. They had her made to look like me with blonde hair and brown eyes. I loved her sooooo much, except I was really upset that she had brown eyes! I'd always wanted blue eyes and wanted her to have them so she didn't have to "suffer" with ugly brown eyes like me! Funny thing is, I love my eyes now and think they are one of my best features! I still have that cabbage patch doll in my garage, and I'm ok with her brown eyes now! :o)

I am now a follower (DG) and the best birthday present I have ever received have been a pair of pink shoes with bows. I'm not a shoe girl but at age 8 their was something about those glittery shoes that caught my eye. They were not very practical but when I saw them in the gift box I was filled with so much glee! :)
