Dancing with Daffodils

'Tis Spring! Well, 'tis Spring-ish!  We are set for some unseasonably warm weather in the 70s, and i can't come home to snowflakes or signs of "Let it Snow" with the sun shining high and warm.  Once the wintry accoutrement was put away, it was time to welcome spring.

My spring decorating doesn't consist of bunnies or eggs, but instead i feel a need to add lightness and texture.  Whites, pops of happy daffodil yellow, real greens (i'm currently trying to figure out what houseplants are not toxic to cats) and nubby textures.

Oh good, you can see in the mirror the pop of yellow i'm talking about.

I wanted to spend no money this year, so when i unearthed a bag of never used fake daffodils and this candle holder, that was clearly the direction to go.  Don't you think there's something so happy about daffodils?  They're my favorite flower, along with tulips.  (FYI-Daffodils and tulips are toxic to cats, as is the mother in law plant).

Listen, I don't even know if these 2 things would ever be in bloom at the same time, i just liked the way they looked.  They meet the white and yellow requirement, as does this little plate that was made on a kibbutz in Israel.

Happiness.

White-check.  Greens-check.  Yellows-Check.  Picture of bow window that always comes out super dark-check.

Put a pretty little blue bird on it.

No picture of the whole room.  It's pretty much just this (minus mister penguin) but with those yellows scattered around.  I'm thinking some yellow pillows are needed, what do you guys think?  Would that even go?

And in the dining room, here's where we have the nubby textures of the table runner and the decor balls.  Simple but Springy.  Me likey.

And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

See?  William Wordsworth thinks they're happy inducing flowers, too.

Happy Spring! I'm ready to start working on the outside-what are you all planting this year?

Looks great hun. I love the yellow and blue. Those little birds are the best. I don't really change my decor for the seasons, but I feel a centerpiece coming on. Maybe I will go steel some more apple blossoms from the house next door (don't tell, hehe).

It's so much more fun to decorate and plan for spring than for fall :-) We're getting unusually high temps here this week too, so thoughts of spring are dancing around in my head :-) I actually focus more on the outdoors than the indoors in the spring and summer - as soon as the snow is gone and the ground warms up enough, I'll be getting to work in the flower gardens and waiting (im)patiently for the first tulips to bloom.

Why not try some yellow cushions on your sofa. If they don't work out, it's easy enough to return them :-)

Ahhh, love it! Your spring stuff is inspiring me!

I'm home sick and supposed to be resting but now I really wanna go get spring stuff from the basement and put away the winter things!

I hate that lilies are bad for cats. They smell so good!

I love the colors! Turquoise/Aqua and yellow are my two favorite colors to pair!:) I love your little blue birds! Your living room looks so cozy! The chocolate brown and blue look great! Sad thing that tulips are poisonous to kitties! Perhaps I can still have them as long as they are on the mantel(where they can't jump! Happy Spring!

I love your style--the first thing that caught my eye was the lovely plant to the right of the mirror; perfect with your vignette. Sweet little blue bird planters--love those--your rooms are lovely!

Mine are blooming! Totally too early for such things to be happening, but I guess we will take the 70-80 degree temps and run with them as far as they go. Beautiful decorations. Our house needs some of that TLC! and TIME to do it!

Totally inspired me to dig out all my springy stuff, though Nashville has totally skipped spring and is now 80 and stormy!
