Could it BE any colder out there? With that wind chill, i don't really think so. It's a good time for staying inside, and staying warm by the fire.
QuadraFire Pellet Stoves are free standing or insert stoves that use recycled materials to form the pellets that are burned in the stove. The stove then sends off less carbon emissions into your home, very much reducing your carbon footprint. Take a look at the graphic to get a better idea.
I've blogged in the past about trying to be as green as i can manage, with our composter and new heating and a/c unit that we got tax credits for, and now the government has extended the tax credit for homeowner's who purchase a pellet stove until December 31st of this year. It's a 10% tax credit that is good for up to $300...i could do a lot with $300, and i'd rather it be in my pocket rather than anybody else's.
Quadra-Fire is giving away a pen and notebook made of recycled materials to one lucky reader. I love that this continues to highlight how being eco-friendly is important to this company. The winner will be chosen on February 28th.

I have not heard of this and I appreciate you putting this information on your blog. Burning clean is really important to me, for myself as an asthmatic and for the environment and community as a while. Thanks for sharing this and the link. Ann
I have heard about pellet stoves and we might have one in our future.
You know, my son who lives in Juneau just had this pellet stove installed yesterday and was explaining it to me... interesting!
I'm in 80' weather down here in Tampa Bay this week so I don't have a need for one...

You asked about Juneau.. it's a teeny town on the water with a Mountain in the back of the town.. Huge mountain to say the least. Only way in is by
Ferry or boat. My son has lived there
off and on and just bought his home.
He will always live there!
As for Clothing,, June he is out in
his shorts and flipflops but that
changes on a dime.. When I lived in
Illinois we had colder and more snow.
Have a great time on your Cruise!

The pellet stove is a great idea. You can save money as well on heating. I will check out their website.

We have a Harman pellet stove and we love it! We live in New England. I'll never use oil for heat again.
I'm sitting here as I type with my feet sitting on a heating pad my toes are so cold! :) Thanks for all the info. I especially liked the left brain/right brain comparisons.
Those stoves sound really good. I'll look into them for sure. Thanks, lovely.
Thank you stopping by and commenting on my kitchen renovation post.
I heard of the pellet stoves for the first time this past winter. Something to look into...
