winter in white

I'm being seasonally lazy this year! Just like for fall, when i didn't change the decorations for halloween, i'm now in winter decor mode, and have yet to add in any xmas or chanukah. And i'm not sure that i even will.  Aside from the tree, this set up could take me straight through the whole season.

Hehe, if you look in the mirror you see a sans decorated tree in the above photo, and then with ornaments in the photo below.  I added some extra snowflake ornaments to even further winterfy this table/quasi mantel.  Those white "snowballs" are part of my summer woven ball filler, but i thought they could work for winter grouped in this way.

This is the maiden voyage for this tree, and she ain't so bad.  Much narrower than our other tree, yet much better for the space.  And she went up in literally one, two, three....as opposed to our usual assembly line of "find correct branch color.  separate into piles.  fluff each branch.  add to tree.  repeat.  repeat.  repeat" over an hour or so.  Not to mention then string the lights.

I was suckered into spending 10 bucks on this sparkly winter beauty.  And by suckered, i mean i saw it, and i needed it. Darn you, big lots and your aisles of seasonal goodness!

Continuing with the white, we adorn the outside.  And by we, i mean the boyfriend.  No way I'm going onto the roof for those dormers!

Frosty aglow and gentlemanly.

His big lot friends (who miraculously have lasted through 4 years and were 8 bucks for the pair).  That left guy looks like he's up to no good with that smirk.

Because we're on the corner (hence the name of this blog) S thinks it means the lights need to span the entire perimeter...

And circle the entire house.  He threatens to add lights to the bump out (which you can kind of see above the sunroom) and to around the detached garage.  I fear it would be bordering on Griswald-esque if that takes place.

I promise there's nothing green being projected on the house-that's got to be coming from the street light.  In case you were wondering if that green glow was purposeful.  Surely not on my neutrally decorated half Jewish house.  Surely not.

Don't you love seeing other people's lights up?  It's the internet equivalent of driving around aimlessly-think of the gas we're saving!

It's lovely. Don't worry about simplicity -- sometimes it speaks the best. Of course my own Christmas tree only has the lights so far -- we are too busy with singing and rehearsing!
and blogging about singing LOL

I like to be able to keep my holiday decor up a little longer too, so I tend towards wintery themes.

I really don't have many decorations up either. I don't own too many. Maybe next year? Haha. Your table is beautiful though - I love candlelight

Love all your snowflake decor! People at work were making fun of me for my politically correct snow & winter themed decor in my cube, but I think it works well when you have mixed religions : )

So pretty! We, another neighbor/cousin-in-law and us, just saw one of our neighbors, and by that I mean someone who lives within about 2 miles of us and gave him grief for putting lights on his house. Now all our kids are wondering why we don't have lights on our house. Life in the country is soooo fun! lol~! :-)

Thanks for stopping by my blog :-). Love the lights on your adorable house. Like you I'm keeping the decorations to a minimum this year! Enjoy the season :-)

Your house is so charming! I understand about the not wanting to decorate, because it all has to come down in a few weeks...ahh..painful, I tell you. Your boyfriend is to funny, if my husband wasn't afraid of heights, he would also decorate the whole house in lights, front, sides and back. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Your boyfriend did a faboulous job on your outdoor lights. They look so pretty!

Isn't a pre-lit tree nice? You had to have been so happy not to do all of that fluffing. I have a tree like that in my basement that I think may need to take a ride to Goodwill.

You made my day.:) Your post is funny and charming. Wish I could drive by to see your lighted/lit/ ?? corner house. Living way out in the country as I do I don't see many decorated houses at night. Not sure why I decorate mine as we don't live on a drive by street but down a country lane. It's the kid in me I guess. Love your blog and am now follower. xo Lynn @thevintagenest

Thanks for your sweet comments about my Christmas mantel and tree! I love your icicle lights... I long to do that to my house, but I'm chicken! I think it's awesome that they go all around the roof... more for your backdoor neighbors to enjoy! Hope you have a Merry Christmas!

Your is so pretty all decked out for the holidays. All twinkly and bright! My hubs fell off the ladder from our second story last year, and won't get up that high again. Love when peaks are all lit up. Now following you.

Your house is so pretty! Your lights look gorgeous! I love the ice cycles on the roof! I also think your tree is beautiful with so many lights and I'm having sign envy over your "Let it Snow" sign! Merry Christmas!

Tammy@Beatrice Banks said...

Oh my! He really did go all out for the exterior! But I love it! Gorgeous! Please send him to my house b/c we have the opposite problem. I deck the halls inside but the hubs doesn't care to put up lights outside. I'm thinking of how many more people will see the outside of my house rather than the inside. But oh well! I love Christmas inside or out.
Your tree looks pretty reflected in the mirror. I took the same kind of photo of mine although I haven't posted it yet.

So pretty! I love all your outdoor lights!! I'm hoping that if I see enough cute Christmas decor photos it will motivate me to finish putting all ours out! Right now our house is half Christmas and half Fall! lol

I like the idea of a narrower tree! I'd like to find one of those really skinny ones :) I do like the 1, 2, 3 part of ours too :)
The outside of your house looks beautiful. My kids would all love Griswold-esque :)

Ha, great smirk on that little snowman. Gotta wonder what's going on in his head. I like your simple decorations on the inside and the fun festiveness on the outside. Oh, and we have a fake tree like your old one with the different levels of branches tagged by color. Of course, I managed to forget the color system this year so put an entire layer of branches on in the wrong slots. Oops.

I think your house looks great! I bought outside lights last year, along with the electrical junk and extra pluggy things... and I still haven't used them. J is working on shelves for the kitchen right now, so I hate to ask him to climb around in the cold to hang lights... Maybe next year.

Sometimes less is more. And white is always in fashion. Your better half certainly has more holiday spirit than I do. That's a lot of decking on your eaves. TALU-ho!
