Also a big thanks to Diann for featuring my "new" table at her Nifty Thrifty Things party.
Ok. I'm not gonna lie. Summer is my least favorite time of the year. I know, i can see you all pressing the unfollow button as i sit here and tell you i won't be decorating with shells or other sea life. I think it stems from a childhood spent going to day camps, then working outside at camps, then post degree still working outside at camps. Nothing against those places, but I'm just a girl who loves her air conditioning. However, summer inspiration link parties are abounding, and i can't put off its inevitable arrival, so let's remind ourselves about the good points of summer with pictures from my old school favorite. Since i need some convincing...
Out door concerts and festivals. Best when free, of course.
No denying the gorgeousness of fireworks for the fourth. I love feeling that pop pop pop thump thump in my chest during a killer finale.
Fire up that grill!
Get those fruity drinks a flowin'! Love those pina colada's at our yearly luau.
Wish this is what the pool was like. Wish this is what the view was like!
The shore, a summer staple, means boardwalk fries, funnel cake, and "watch the tram car please."
Followed by moments of heat induced "maybe this is the lucky one."
I'd take this relaxing set up any day.
Notice i left out things that are unpleasant, like green head flies, mosquitos, gnats, humidity, heat, sunburn, traffic driving to the shore, around the shore, and home from the shore.
What (pleasant things) does summer mean to you....anything else you would include on your list?
Having fun in the sun at the fair weather forum @ centsational girl, seasonal sunday @ the tablescaper, countdown to summer @ domestically speaking, weekend bloggy reading @ serenity now.

Sitting on the front porch with my little guys, watching the world go by is one of my favorites....and planning big BBQ's with family (and tons of good food)...junking trips with friends (because they're way more fun without fifty pounds of winter clothes on!!! Enjoy your summer!!!! :-)
Yes! I'm not the only one! Summer is my least favorite season. It's so unbearably hot here (Texas), and the mosquitos make it impossible to be outside (I hate using repellant - it doesn't even work) even if you can take the heat. Plus, I hate taking the baby out in the sun so much. Whine, complain, whine, I know. That said, I suck it up because I have three boys, and they require lots of movement and sun. To be outside in Texas means you pretty much have to spend it at a pool, and that's fun. We're saving up for a new house, and I have wonderful plans for a beautiful patio and pool. That will take some of the sting out of my Texas summer.
I 'say' I like summer but in reality it is too darn hot for me.. I too am an A/C girl! What I do like about summer is...swimming in my friends pool, nice cold 'beverages', The Worlds Longest Yard Sale and reading because I can sit in my cool house and enjoy it!
hugs,
Linda

Summer is my favorite time of year!! it gets pretty hot here in Arkansas but there's lots of ways to cool off. We like canoeing the Buffalo National River and swimming in Lake Ouachita.
Also, I'm a school librarian, so I get to spend the summer playing stay at home mommy to my little rugrat.
Summer is my least favorite time of year because it's too stinkin' HOT! But I do like things cooked on the grill and sleeping in!!
I'm ready for all things summer!
Following you!!
I love A/C also! Glad to know there are others like me. I like being out side in the autumn and in the early spring. I also like our weather this week because it is only in the low 80's and low humidity.
I really like your blog.
I love love love summer - for many of the reasons you mentioned. But I definitely mentally skip the parts like mosquitoes (I like MN - they're atrocious)and dealing with upper 90* temps with no AC in our house. But when you deal with sub zero temps for over half the year summer is totally worth it all. Especially in a hammock with a mojito.
Whoo hoo...Fall is my season baby, I love it. Summer is fun, but I hate the heat and humidity...although I try to stay in pools and the lake as much as possible.
Yeah I would love that pool too- in my dreams :) We just went to a free concert at our state fairgrounds- Southside Johnny- soo fun! Great summertime post!
I live in Vegas and it hit 107 today. Yikes! Can't wait to see your retro diner basement! I am completely jealous. :)
Summer is nice up here. Long, lazy days in the sun, picnics and heating up the barbeque. I also like the heat. I pinned the photo of the outdoor movie set-up, one day I will do that.
That ice cream cone with sprinkles makes me want to run out to my local ice cream stand STAT. YUM!
Summer reading is what I love most. Reading outside with a nice breeze. How's dad?
The beach and the pool with the kids! Flowerbeds, sunshine, sprinklers, lightening bugs, and sitting out under the stars.
If you get a chance come over and check out my "MEET MELANIE" post it will give you a laugh and make you want to throw a luau!

I love all the same things about summer that you do. :)
Thank you so much for joining my Weekend Bloggy Reading party (and for linking back-I appreciate that!). Hope you'll stop by Serenity Now again soon. :)
As much as I love the summer I hate hate hate the humidity. I am looking forward to making some money and hopefully having some relaxing weekends! :)
I love summer & these photos! Those pesky mosquitos are bothersome though!

I too dread the summer months... Mosquitos love me, I'm pale and burn instantaniously, and I have a "sensitive system", so I get overheated quickly. No fun.
