you can love your pet, but you don't have to looove your pet.

I'm not sure exactly how this came to be...but i am not ok with this at all.

Even further and even more not ok with that!

And now it's dark outside.

And...in a vase in the dining room that holds no water, nor ever has.  Interesting.

Should i be concerned with this?  There are a few things that could be contributing to this...1) it has been hot lately and she was thirsty, yet she has clearly has her own bowl.  2) We usually drink out of water bottles and therefore she can not stuff her whole head inside...so this was a unique opportunity for her. 3) She really liked the ice cubes. 4) She no longer likes her metal water bowl and prefers plastic instead. 5) She is just a naturally curious cat.

This morning i left her with two water bowls, her regular one and a plastic one that i stuck an ice cube in, thinking that was the draw.  However, she may now be scared of that one, since the ice cube melting startled her.

The burning question-would you drink this after your pet did?  For the record, i did not. This crossed a line for me when i could see her tongue lapping up the water.  I can't get with that and it down right skeeved me.

By the way, for no points, money, or recognition...anybody know the movie where the title of this post came from?

She's being curious. Sophie does it too (ever since she was a kitten). And no, I don't drink after her either. Toby, otoh, his royal highness is above drinking out of cups.

I have two cats and they both like to drink out of our cups. We do not drink after them. It's also not limited to water. My cat Lucy loves sweet tea. lol

Yeah... I wouldn't be down with drinking outta the cup after our animals either. Harley always gets close and SNIFS the edges of our glass and you can tell what he's thinking, but he's never got any further....

Charlie will drink out of our water cups if we aren't careful. He really loves it when I leave some milk for him. He will usually stick his paw in it and lick that...and no I do not drink after him either. I do think with the hot weather they need more water and I have about 3 bowls around the house in the summer for Charlie. I think we have broke him from drinking from the toliet...that I didn't like either! Some cats love the ice cube. hugs, Linda

It's kind of sweet, but yes, a little gross too. I once caught my dog drinking my glass of soy milk, it gagged me a little bit.

Our sweet kitty Tigger will NOT drink out of a bowl...she prefers the bathtub or the bathroom sink. We do not even leave a bowl out for her anymore-we just make sure to run water in the tub for her each morning. Is she weird or are we weirder for catering to her??? lol...gotta love those babies!

LOL! Our cats do that! We have to watch our glasses carefully! The littlest one doesn't lick...he sticks his paw in the cup and then licks his paw! Ice cubes are a big thing for our kitties...they love it when I add them to their bowl! :)

My cats both do it. For some reason they love to drink out of our water cups, especially when there's ice in there. I don't get it either. Perhaps it's the thrill of being rebellious. :)

We bought them a nice fountain water bowl which they liked for about a week and now completely ignore. They prefer drinking from the bathroom faucet or our cups. Go figure!

Our vet actually told us to water down their wet food. We do that regularly so they stay hydrated especially during the warm months.

Silly kitty! No, I don't think I'd drink after my cat or my dog, if I had either. The cat I used to have much prefered the toilet to her bowl??!!

I'll just get my fix by coming here for the cute pictures!

Cats weird me out, so I would never eat or drink anything after them.

My boys do eat their cereal after the dog licks out of it and my 3 year old has been known to do a one for me, one for you thing with the dog when eating yogurt. It's gross, but we do love our dog.

I've known a lot of cats with strange drinking habits... some would only drink from a fountain, or out of the toilet... i think as long as they don't start getting bossy and demanding you give them water only in that certain way, it's quite ok and cute ^^

My cat will (for the most part) only drink from the sink. He prefers if you hand feed him by cupping your hands for the water. I don't do that. Often.

But I leave the sink running at a drip at different times during the day. When he was younger, I was determined to 'break' him of this habit but I just ended up with a dehydrated cat. He doesn't like fountains either because of the sound the motor makes.

And yes, we've all learned that if we leave a glass of water unattended...just get a new one because Sebastian may very well and taken a gander at it. The things we do for our furbies! :)

LOL!!~ Cats do what they want when they want! I know in the back of my mind where the title comes from, but I just can't put my finger on it now.

What a funny post! I even read all the comments too. how funny that we all get chatty when it comes to our pets.

Ok, my cat has not drunk out of our cups but she has gotten close and sniffed a bit, but she does not like my black espresso much. I would not drink after her, unless I was really thirsty and/or lazy to make another espresso.

Ahh, yes! This happens sometimes at our house, but more with cups of milk. I've caught Kitty licking cream cheese off bagels, stealing sausage links, and batting pieces of turkey off our plate.

It sounds like you're providing enough water, but drinking from your cup is just so much more fun than a normal pet bowl! Kitty loves to drink the shower water from the nasty shower floor instead of from his bowl which makes no sense to me. I think cats just find it amusing to do things they're not supposed to : )

Saw your blog over at Little Pink House and had to come check it out, especially with the cute cat! Our cats have always done that... growing up, we had cats that would almost push your hand out of the way while eating cereal and one was terrible about drinking (or trying) from a cup every time someone set it down. I think it's just a cat thing. One of my cats tries to do it now.

My cats are the same way! My youngest cat likes to drink from a running faucet instead of his bowl.

She needs a new bowl for her water most likely. She probably kept going back to your cup because the cold water felt nice, BUT the reason she stuck her head in to begin with might be because her water dish is old/unclean. Water dishes start to hold bacteria and can cause feline acne when they rub their chin on it- which hurts them. Even stainless steel ones can get microscopic cracks in them/ get dirty. Our vet recommends we change our kitty's water bowl once every 6 months. OR get a ceramic glazed bowl... like a toilet bowl sort of material!

Ha! Funny pictures! I don't know much about cats, but I'm thinking she's a curious little thing.

My dog regularly drinks from my cup if I leave it somewhere he can reach it. I looove my dog a lot, but NO, I do not drink from it afterwards!

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier. I really enjoyed scrolling through your posts. You're funny!!!

Yep. I drink after them. I have 3 dogs and we occasionally share drinks, coffee, popsicles etc. I can't speak for cats.. but I've heard dogs have cleaner mouths than we do.. go figure!

I went back in time to see your kitty post! She is so pretty and a rascal too I see. I do not drink after the cat - or the dogs for that matter! Lovely blog. Ann
