De-brownification, yes that's a word...possibly

No matter what i do in the living room-and despite a huge blue wall opposite this couch-it always feels like the blue accent isn't quite obvious enough.  There be lots of brown up in this space.  Wood frames.  Brown ottomans.  Brown couch.  Like a good little indie art supporter, off to Etsy i went.

Have you embraced chevron?  We're seeing it all over blogland, but like most things, it took me a while to jump on board.   I only just got an ipod and started wearing scarves as accessories.  What can i say, i'm a late bloomer in this aspect.

I like the two pillow look, but that second one is way too poofy. It's hard to tell, but little chevron's practically in the middle of the couch.

Definitely not happening on its own, not with that pattern.  This is actually the back of the pillows-the front is a bit more country.

So sorry about the flash, but it is really hard to get a good picture here.  On a side note, i promise all the winter items are put away now, and the wood frames have been changed to silver.

So here's where i need your help, friends.  Loveseat--matching chevron or something similar?  Keep looking for a second pillow a little less poofy for behind chevron?  Do you have a bevvy of pillows on your couches?  This room is small, so bevvy of pillows could be a bit much.  Advice, please, oh wise ones!

Love the new pillow! Sadly I am the WRONG person to ask in all areas accessories. You know the quote in Heathers " she always said you couldn't accessorize for sh--." they were talking about me:) But I love your barbie post too, so funny!

We have a ton of pillows. (Light pink and an even paler pink)HUbby picked them out. One day I hope to make covers or find covers for them. we don't keep them on the couch unless we are expecting company so when we aren't they get thrown behind the couch because if they don't Peanut is using them to cross the carpet to stay away from the imagainary crocodiles. Happy Monday! xoxo

I try to find a happy balance between all the pillows I love to make being on my couch and finding room to sit myself. I recently read somewhere that if your couch is overly stuffed you don't need as many pillows. I think the two on the couch is good. Love the chevron. I don't even have any yet.

I for sure think that two pillows are enough, but I really like the floral pattern better, it seems like your couch is just a solid color, and the interesting pattern against the solid color is more interesting to me.

I'm a huge fan of clashing patterns, with a solid colour to anchor the lot. Though I'd probably go for a solid blue, the gorgeous chevrons, and then a paisley with blue, white and the brown, just to tie the whole lot in.

I have lots of brown in my house too; brown rug, brown wood panelling, brown window frames, grey brown sofa and I've accented with lime green, pale green and brown cushions, with accents of orange. It looks good, Crazy Car Man says it reminds him of a tree house!

Those chevron pillows are super cute! I like how they look with another pattern behind them too, it brings out their bold pattern even more.

Gotta love etsy!! I think I'd do a smaller accent pillow that has some blues and maybe the beige/gold that you've got going on in your windowsill (if you've still got that going on I guess) in front of one of the pillows. Maybe find a placemat and stuff it?! I'm a pillow freak though...I love them on the couches. That's partially because I like to hug one everytime I sit down, so I feel naked if it's not there! To each their own though, right?! I love the chevron update regardless of what else you decide! And the new blog colors...love those too!

I really like the chevron pillows. I would do something similar but not the same on the loveseat. I only have a few pillows on the davenport. My husband and dogs just throw them on the ground anyways.

I actually really like the 2 different patterns. It's more risky, but I think it looks nice!

I agree with the Crazy Garden Lady! If you could find a pillow that combined the blue, brown, and ivory/white that would be great! I love the chevron pillows and I really like the flowerdy, as well. I usually go for two matching pillows and a mismatched on the couch and just random coordinating on the chairs. Right now in the living room we've got two huge ivory pillows, 2 20" pink with ivory and dark brown, 2 faux-burlap pillows, one aqua and ivory chevron/bird, and that black one I made back in December. It's a pillow extravaganza, but somehow it works.

The Dwell for Target Medallion Circles pillow is cute and I know there is another cute aqua and brown one at the store, but I can't find it on their site.

I love your pillows and I think they look great. I do agree that a nice floral that has the brown and blue would be beautiful.

I love the chevron pattern and the color with the brown is great! I have a small livingroom also and it makes it hard to decorate. My couch is massive though and would love to find a smaller one but I sure would miss it when I want to lounge around! lol

I really like the chevron pillows, the bold pattern really stands out and looks good on your couch. The floral is pretty but doesn't make quite the same statement. We have a dark brown couch in our living room and I'm also trying to figure our how to lighten the space.

MMm -ok so I'm waaaaay behind the times and haven't seen chevrons anywhere other than the road! They look great on your cushions though!

I made cushions for our sofa that match the feature wall behind - but we also have multicoloured and textured cushions that move around on all our sofas from the girls rooms so nothing ever really matches for long! I love looking at your beautiful grown-up house and imagining one day.....

The chevron pillows are CUTE! I love the color! I like the floral behind it, but darn its poofiness! We only have one worn pillow on our couch, since the couch colors are a little busy.(Slip covering it is on my mind) I think if your room is small, then keep it simple. Perhaps a little bit darker blue smaller pillows to go in front of the chevron pillows. Or an oblong pillow of a blue floral print(similar in color, maybe a shade or 2 darker) for the middle.

I love the chevron pillows!! I like them by themselves, but maybe you could throw in a solid, but textured pillow behind it? Like a white faux sheepskin pillow or something?

Thanks for stopping by my blog!! I love your pillows and in my opinion you can never have to many pillows!! Keep on decorating sister it looks great!

I'm also a recovering brown addict. I think, "The darker the better." Then all of a sudden I look around and live in black (brown) hole.

I love the chevron! And I actually like the two patterns together! Call me crazy - but I think it works!

Our girls love pillows but mainly if they are on the floor. I'm for dusty blue chairs IF you don't think there is a high chance for dirty paws or pants or fingers to mess them up. Remember I live on a farm, with cows, and kids, and farmers who come in from lunch and want to "take a rest." ;-)

I love chevron! What about a brown and blue pillow behind the chevron that will help pull it together with the couch? Thanks for stopping by my blag and your sweet comments!

I have about four pillow, that wind up on the floor. How about bringing in a third color...like a pale yellow..just a thought, I like having three colors instead of two:)I like your new pillows too..

Debbiedoos said...

Yes Yellow I just went back and looked and there you have some yellow candles...add a yellow patterned pillow, floral, bird, something fun and whimsy.

Another vote for chevron love!! Haha :) I think it all depends on what you like. I like asymmetrical pillow placement on couches because I think it feels more casual, and the same goes for pattern. I think a third color would look great too :) Find an awesome pattern that pulls in the white, blue and whatever color makes your world go 'round ;)
