out, out, damn (empty) pots

Nothing like starting the morning off with a literary reference to keep you on your toes, eh?

So this is the ol' homestead all suited up for the season.  We like the snowmen.  We don't like the empty pots adorning the stairs.

Frosty says top o the morning to you.

This picture was inspiration for the empty pots.  S's dad graciously scoured New Jersey for large pinecones and brought me back a grocery bag full.  None were the mammoth size that this person has, wonder where they live.

Glee!  Not too bad, right?  I knew there was a reason i left these things on the stairs!

Just the right amount of cheer, just the right amount of "huh.  would you look at that."

These are at the end of our walkway, by the sidewalk.  Perhaps as you're walking by with your dog,

you notice a bit of bling, a bit of holiday cheer.  Puts a little more spring in my step when i see something i like and maybe haven't seen before.

Sure, my pinterest inspiration was full of lush greens and undoubtedly taken with fancy camera-so what! Super happy with my now not empty and holiday-fied pots.

Whadya think?
What do you do with your pots when it's too cold for plants?

That's a great idea! I have also been on the lookout for larger pinecones and haven't found any. Huh. We still have pots with dead plants in them outside... for shame!

Thanks so much for visiting -- we haven't seen each other in a while.

I like your idea for filling the empty pots wtih pine cones and a little blingy-bling. Very festive. I have had trouble with terracotta pots breaking if left out in really cold temps all winter -- just thought I would pass that along.

Do come again!

I saw that pin and just loved the idea as well. Nice of you to do it. I love the ornaments thrown in there too, it is simply festive.

Cute!!! We just finally decorated our tree tonight but haven't done anything outside - maybe this weekend! We have to buy more lights though... again. :-) Love the bling you added!!!

Great idea for your pots! They'd definitely get me looking twice if I was passing by! Our pots are kind of overgrown and starting to disappear under out tropical wet jungle just now! Must weed them out - then maybe I'll pretty them up for Christmas.....

I like that idea! If you wanted the pinecones to be higher, you could stuff some newspaper in the bottom or something so the decor would sit higher, but it still looks cute. =)

And your little snowman is so adorable!

That's a neat idea to fill your empty planters with pine cones. We just toss our empty ones in the garage until spring! Thanks for the idea!

Love this idea! My pots (which I spray paint black in the spring, but are chipped now) are still holding dead plants...and they will be staying there! It's too cold now to attempt to do anything else with them.

Great idea to add a little holiday flavor to those empty pots. I love when people use ornaments as decorations off the tree.
