This is by no means an earth shattering before and after, but i think the feel of the space was really changed without spending a lot of money and without doing anything major. Our whole upstairs was really an afterthought, even 3 years later, and this girl has had enough!
With carpet and chaise. And laundry pile. I really like the bedding, it was new for the space, so i wanted to find a duvet to save money. Why yes, those are barely off white walls. Aren't they lovely?
The carpet that i need to--sorry.
The carpet that i need to work with, trying to pull out the blue/gray this go round.
Ta da! Ok, there isn't much different except the drapes, rods, art switcheroo, lamps, and duvet, and there's a big ol' bed crinkle, but i think this feels more relaxing with these tones. I think it says "a real grown up couple lives here."
More art switcheroo to bring in the cool blue, and paint sample on the wall. This color (Benjamin Moore Nantucket Fog) isn't gonna work, it is too blue and i am afraid all over will be too dark for the space. My other color contender is Baby Fawn.
That's it tucked into the art, but it's just the chip. Detail of the drapes.
Hideous 80s cream and gold furniture, though luckily it goes with the golds. I wish S would build something that would go that whole length and be a little higher. More paint sample. See free vase?
Trying to give you a better sense of the space. It isn't a large room, but it is certainly not small. There is plenty of space.
I took this sitting between the dormers so you could see how much room is at the end of the bed, and where the tall dresser is. I have a new bed skirt, but it has yet to go on.
View from behind the bed...i love when the leaves grow in b/c it hides the neighbors house. You can see their brick on the bottom right. The cat loves this view, too, and talks to the squirrels and the birds. Rather annoying in the morning when she climbs on my head to get up there.
So this:
to this:
Imagine how nice paint would look, eh?
1. Sherwin Williams Black Fox-too dark?
2. SW Earl Gray...too blue?
3. SW Roycroft Mist Gray..too light?
Better stop now...

Aww I think it looks awesome! Great redo and for not even spending much money! That is a nice sized room!!
Very nice! The space feels much better.
Nice job. Your house looks like it's really cute.
I like the blue, and with the lighting, it definitely looks better.
Here are my thoughts. If you can't afford new furniture, go to town on your dressers with some paint! I have seen some incredible transformations with just spray paint! Perhaps something kind of silver metallic or zinc to bring out the details in your new curtains?
As for wall colors, my personal preference is the second shot - the Earl Gray blue, or do a contrast beige or creamy yellow that will make the blue curtains stand out more... just some ideas!
Already, it is an improvement!
Great updates! What if you painted the wall one of those beigish taupey colors that were also in the rug? Or pick a nice blue and add some pillows to the bed that aren't blue? I love blue bedrooms.. mine is blue and it relaxes me everytime I go in there :)
Love it!! I am having a CSN Giveway on my blog My Dream Canvas and would love for you to drop by.
It looks super. And as you say...blah to ahhhhhh!!!

You are absolutely right! The feel of the room has completely changed and is now a peaceful and airy bedroom. The pictures also feel much more cohesive and have a little extra pop now. Great job!
I think it looks great! It looks really cozy! The angles of the walls are fabulous! Love that! The colors are great too! You did a great job on a redo for just a little $!!
This is such a nice space. I love seeing a bed tucked into the architecture like this. Makes it so cozy and the symmetry is nice. I really like it. The Nant. fog looks nice and not too blue in the pic, but you are able to see it in person. Good luck.

Love how you created an accent wall with your window treatments. I also really like your change to blue...totally updates the space!
I like the blk fox judging from photo. You really do have a sweet master suite. I love your new lamps. It is looking really nice.
Looks great! I think a light gray would be beautiful - not sure if you would want to go too dark. I agree with refinishing the furniture - sometimes all something needs is a coat of paint!
I love the bedrroom! It looks soo much better!
Thanks for linking up!

Great shots of a lovely room!! Amazing the difference you can make by making just small changes!
I like sloping ceilings in bedrooms - somehow makes them that little bit more cosy! :)
I'm not good at choosing colors, I let colors choose me. (oops) That is what I did for my bedroom, big reveal tomorrow!
I love, love, love, the layout of your room. That is so cute. It's really roomy.
I like what you've done so far, good luck with the color choice!

Such a cozy, inviting room! You've really done a great job with your changes! :-)
Can I make a suggestion for "one day"? It would look fabulous if you picked up and hung 2 more drapery panels with a lengthened your rod about 1 foot in each direction. It would create a bit of that drama you were after plus make your window look a little larger. If you ever open the drapery (like in your after pic), you'd just open them to the frame. This is an old interior decorators trick ;-) Of course if you did that, you'd have to take your terrific art pieces and reconfigure how you've hung them... but I think the overall change would be worth it!

Thanks for the comment love today. I think you've done a fabulous job with your room. Especially working for free. Definitely loving the relaxing tone of the blues. Great job! Rebecca
Looking great! It definitely looks calm and peaceful. You did such a great job! :)
Wow! That room looks 100x better - without investing a ton of money, too. Great job! We're in the middle of a bedroom remodel at the moment, too - it isn't easy! ;)

I like that first blue best - it's more cozy, less toddler boy's room. Great job on the lamps and the art, too!
I LOVE the "cool color" trend. I think we all have been there done that with the red and brown, but it looks so amazing with the cool tones! I love it!
Nice transformation. Thanks for the visit earlier today at my blog.
