Thankful Thursdays Numero Uno

I am totally honest about my pessimistic tendencies, so i thought being the month of Thanksgiving i would do a series on each Thursday called Thankful Thursdays. Perhaps i will list approximately 5 things (I highly enjoy making lists) that have topped my week thus far.  You know, force myself into optimism by actively focusing on the positive.

Sure, it would make sense to wait until Friday's to discuss the week's events, but nu uh, i need alliteration.  I thought it also might be fun if you guys participate by posting your own Thankful Thursdays on your blog and leave the link in the comments.  Maybe even link back here in some capacity?  Like, "the fantabulous blog The Cape On The Corner is having a blabbity blah blah..."  Or you could just comment, plain and simple, but i'm trying to do something different, ok?  Baby steps people, baby steps. One day i could have a linky party of my own.  Oh my gosh, how do i make this a linky party of my own?  Must look into that.

And so this is hopefully interesting, i mean "specific to this week" thankful things, not just my cat.  Or my boyfriend.  Or my perfect for 2 people little house.

Here are my first Thankful Thursday thoughts:

1.  This week i actually had time in the office, compared to the crazy month of October.  My "rolly cart" of community outreach materials was removed from my car and won't be returning for a long while.  Time in the office meant catching up on blogs, thank goodness, and knocking down the posts in my reader to an actual manageable number.

2.  It's been really cold in the mornings, and i get to use the remote start system S installed to warm up the car and defrost the windows.  Saving me from idling inside it, and allowing me to instead give my cat some morning lovin'.

3.  While highly disappointed in the clearance halloween goodies on the shelves-where are they?  they are bare!-i did manage to find one thing at the HG.  With actual clearance prices, not just slapping a red sticker on it and marking it down by a dollar or two and calling it clearance.  Love ya, HG!

4.  Yay banner!

5.  My sweetle cat slept by my side, under the blanket with me all night.  From the moment i went to bed.  While this might not be much to some people, it is to me.  My girl is very independent, and i am very needy.

Your turn, guys!  Write a post for Thankful Thursdays and leave the link in the comments.  If you can't swing it this week, just comment, but at least keep it in mind for next Thursday!   Can't wait to read what you guys are most thankful for this week. *Fingers crossed this actually happens*

Great idea! :) So important... this morning I had a "moment" if you will.

I ran into a lady on my way to work, and I took the time to stand and listen to her as she explained to me her current circumstances. I know most people brush these off as crazy people taking advantage of others, but in this case the lady was so incredibly genuine. I could tell she was highly embarrassed asking for my help, and I could see the desperation in her eyes. With little else to offer, I handed her the two clementines I had packed in my bag for a snack later and I thought she was going to cry with appreciation.

Though it seems people say this a lot, I had never been more thankful for my home, the food in my kitchen and the job I go to every day... even if it's not what I want to do right now. This morning, as helpless as I felt for not being able to help my fellow man more, I felt so blessed for what I do have.

I really need to do this. I am so negative and I know it's so horrible to live that way. I'm going to try do work on this for next week!

I love this idea!! I will make a note to participate next week over at my blog!

But for today, I'm thankful for...

1. The knowledgeable people at the pet store who have given me great advice this week that got our Leopard Gecko feeling back to himself and out of his hidey hole!

2. That I'm starting to feel better after being down with the flu for 3 days.

3. That I actually remembered my step-moms birthday this year and called!

4. That I finally got some stuff done this weekend for my craft show!

5. And I'm thankful for......my cats! I know!!! I'm sorry! I couldn't help it! LOL

What a great idea, there's so much in life to be thankful for!

I can totally commiserate on having an independent cat... we're lucky if he deigns to sleep near our feet. But I do usually get morning snuggles after 'daddy' has left for work. :)

This is a good idea! Keep you positive, upbeat and grateful for wheat we do have! I'll bet that starter is a real life-saver in the winter months. Thanks for your sweet comment on my necklace post!

This is my first visit to your blog. I found you through Amanda's party. I love this article. I am actually doing something similar on my blog this month. I am on a mission to list 100 reasons that I am thankful. Every Monday of November I am listing 25 reasons I am thankful. I will be happy to share my Monday link with your "parties".

Here is the article from this week.

I am heading back to my blog to add your link to places to visit listed at the bottom.

Praying you have a wonderful time thinking thankful thoughts this month! :D

Blessings!

Hey, I too have a tendency to look at the negitive things in life. I have a "thankful journal". In November I write in it every day and list the things I am thankful for on that particular day. It really helps me. Amazing how many things pop into your mind. Simple things, like locked doors! They keep us safe! Crazy I know. Love your blog.

Your post made me miss having a cat!! My husband is very allergic and also hates them, so I haven't had one in 9 years. :( Snuggling with a cat is the best! Thanks so much for linking up to my party. Sorry for the delayed comment--it's been a long weekend. ;)
